Real People. Unscripted Moments.

Most commercial photography is staged. And it shows. The moment a visitor lands on your website, they can feel when photographs are performed rather than real. It's the same feeling you get flicking through stock photo sites — technically fine, but somehow unconvincing. It's not a good look.

About me.

I’m Gary — a UK-based commercial photographer and documentary-led filmmaker working with businesses, agencies and individuals across the UK and occasionally overseas.

And relaaaaaaaax...

My approach is relaxed, patient and friendly.

A big part of my job is helping people feel at ease — especially those who don’t like having photographs taken of themselves.

For a corporate headshot session it's essential that people can be themselves – I’ve been told by countless clients that I’ve got the knack of helping people to relax and enjoy the shoot.

It's always about the truth.

Before I was a photographer, I ran a design agency. We'd commission photographers and it became glaringly obvious that the best shots — the ones that actually made a brochure or website come alive — were never the ones that were carefully set up.

They were the candid ones. The ones that captured something true.

The natural moments that feel authentic rather than staged or over-produced.

This approach has shaped everything about how I work.

How I document with photography.

Documentary photography means I observe and discretely capture. I spend time at the shoot location — getting to know the space, the people and understanding how it all works.

At first, people can be highly aware of the camera – and feel a bit awkward – but after a while they get used to it and forget about me.

I melt into the background and that's when the good stuff happens. The moments that can't be staged.

How it works in practice.

Before the shoot we’ll chat about what the photographs need to do — what stories you need to tell, what feeling it should leave the viewer with.

On the day I'll arrive early, get the lay of the land, and quietly get to work. I don't hold things up or ask people to gather for a group shot (unless that's specifically what's needed). I work around your operation, not the other way around.

I shoot a lot. I'll look for the moments that convey exactly what you need to portray — the background detail that gives context, the expression that says more than any caption could.

Where I work – and who with.

I shoot UK-wide and sometimes internationally – in real working environments — offices, workplaces and live sites.

I shoot photography, film – and create social-first assets that reflect the people behind the business.

Whether I’m working directly with a client or alongside a creative agency, I’m comfortable handling a project independently from a written brief or collaborating closely as part of a wider team.

The result.

Photography that genuinely looks like you. That makes clients feel they already know what it's like to work with you before they've ever picked up the phone.

That's the point of all of it.

Your team are the real stars of the show – the work, interactions, laughter, chin-wags in the kitchen – this is the real stuff people like to see.

People buy people. Always have.
