Rowntree Memories Employee Portraits – York

“York Remembers Rowntree” was a memories-gathering project supported by Heritage Lottery Fund,

running from September 2013 to March 2015, aiming to to fill a gap in current knowledge about

the contribution the Rowntree family had in the everyday lives of people within York.

The purpose of the shoot was to capture candid portraits of past employees of Rowntree

and curate an exhibition of portraits and memory postcards for invited guests and the public.

All portraits were captured in a small fire escape doorway using natural light from an open door.
